Bee the Change: An evening of varieté to bring the bees back!
As you may already know honeybees are disappearing from our planet at the rate of about 30% every year. Honeybees are very important to our livelihood and well-bee-ing, because of their exceptional ability to pollinate. Without honeybees the pollination of approximately a third of our food crops would not be possible. If you like eating watermelon, strawberries, apples, coconut, coffee and lots of other foods, then you like honeybees and you definitely want to see them stick around.
No one seems to be exactly certain why the bees are disappearing. Some of the theories include the use of pesticides, malnutrition for the bees, the transportation of bees to pollinate monocultures, GMOs, electromagnetic radiation… the list goes on.
Fortunately we can bee the change! We can support local and organic agriculture and beekeeping, we can plant bee-friendly flowers grow vegetables, and keep honeybees ourselves.
We are trying to raise $777 to produce a varieté show to inspire and educate our community to bring the bees back! All proceeds from our show will go towards supporting local beekeeping and other sustainability projects such as greenhouse construction, natural building and green energy at the Lookout Arts Quarry near Bellingham, WA.
On August 20th we will hold two shows at the Bellingham Circus Guild’s, Cirque Lab. We will screen The Vanishing of the Bees to educate the community about the disappearing bees. We will also have music, dance, and magic acts to inspire the community to take action.
The $777 raised will be used to rent the circus space, purchase film rights, and advertise the events. Your donation will make these shows possible and help educate and inspire the community to take action and…

Buy A Photo and Help BootStrap Plant Fruit Trees and Educate Youth!
In February I will join 20 some educators, environmentalists, theatre performers, and fruit tree planters on a 6-week adventure through California. We will travel on two bio-diesel busses and visit 30 elementary, middle, and high schools where we will perform “Green Theatre,” educating youth about health, hunger, environmental justice, and climate change. Afterwards we will plant fruit trees and install drip irrigation systems with the youth.
The tour is organized by a non-profit organization called Common Vision and runs on volunteer power! If you’re interested in supporting this adventure there are two ways you can help.
One is to donate to the tour directly. Common Vision is a non-profit organization that exists because of generous donors like you. If you are inspired by this work, myself, the 20+ volunteers of the fruit tree tour, and youth throughout California would be very grateful if you donated a tree to be planted on the tour.

You can also help by purchasing one of my few remaining photos from around the world. The tour is volunteer run and I’m trying liquidate my collection to help finance this adventure. Any purchases you make will go directly towards my expenses so that I can be fully present while I educate youth about sustainable living practices.
All the pieces you see below are for sale and can be taken home at any time. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the images and see the prices and sizes available. If you find the prices unaffordable call me… we will negotiate.
Thank you for your support!

Visit Local Color in Pike Place Market!
During the winter of 2009, BootStrap and his trusty Light Capturer, (Camera) set out on a journey round the world. He would document the communion of fine grains of sand and gentle waves of H2O, of ancient stone structures and giant wooded limbs, of low flying mysterious moisture and sky scrapping scraps of metal, of wild monkeys and wise men, and of jet packs and a blue infinite beyond. BootStrap and his collection of Time Capsules (HDR Photography) shares the light less captured from moments of Earth’s magnificent scenes.
Join us this Saturday you will have an opportunity to view the pieces in person at one of Seattle’s finest Coffee and Art shops in Pike Place Market, Local Color. This evening will mark the opening of a month long show in the space for myself and three other amazing artists. There will be beer and wine, I think some food, and of course ART for sale.
If you haven’t had a chance to see these photos in person, now’s the time. I’ve spent many hours developing my own mounting technique, that really allows the work to shine.
I look forward to seeing you there!
